Stairlift Installation
Stairlift installation is a lot easier than you would imagine. Tracks are manufactured to the surveyors measurements and then installed onto your stairs. The seats are ready to be assembled onto the tracks whether it be a straight or curved stairlift. The track assembly is done on site. Our stairlifts are all powered by DC technology (battery power) so there is no need for an electrician on installation. The stairlift is simply plugged into the nearest electrical socket and the unit will charge its self automatically as and when needed. The wire is very thin a bit like a BT phone wire so can be fed anywhere and as it’s a low voltage wire it’s perfectly safe.
Straight Stairlift Installation
Duration: Approx 1½ Hours
When a survey of your stairs is done the surveyor will have taken the exact measurements of the stairs so a track will have been made to those measurements.
The track is installed usually fixing a plate with 4 bolts which sits neatly under the track. The track is fixed to the steps only. This is fixed in 3 places. The bottom step, half way up the stairs and the last but one step.
Curved Stairlift Installation
Durations: Approx 4 – 6 Hours
Curved stairlift installations are more complex than that of a straight stairlift due to the bespoke design and measurements of the rail that is made to measure. Our curved stairlifts are built on site. The engineers carry all the track parts and carry out what we call van fits. The track is purpose biult for your stairs as no two staircases are the same.
The following applies to the Straight and Curved Stairlift:
- The DC wire which will have been fixed to the track at the factory will then be fed neatly to the nearest socket to the stairs.
- The chair is then fixed to the track, switched on and fully tested.
- The engineer will then thoroughly clean the area as if no work has been done.
- The customer is shown all the features of the stairlift and are made sure that they are happy with the stairlift.
